my Oscar 2016 predictions ;)

so, tonight Hollywood is having its brightest celebration and we´ll finally find out who will win the Oscars 2016. I already have 2 at home, so, whatever, i don´t really care. Haha, kidding. About that, in case you´re wondering when and why i have this picture, let me explain a little bit. It was in January 2012 for my sister´s birthday. I´ve actually always wanted to throw an Oscar party, not the couch potato type, but make it as real as possible. It was challenging to organize it, but we had so much fun! I ordered the statues in a gift shop in England, we made this huge Academy Awards-inspired banner, wrote scorecards and had a red carpet, of course and even nominations, nominees and winners, not to forget the fancy dress code. So glad everyone went for it, making speeches and all ;)  I´ll maybe throw another one next year, who knows ;)

Now, back to the real thing, Leo will, should, should´ve also won the other years! That´s it! That´s all i care about ;)

No, in case you haven´s seen the nominations yet, here are some of them:

ACTOR IN A LEADING ROLE

Bryan Cranston, Trumbo

-> sorry Bryan Cranston, but the Leo is the winner tonight ;)

Matt Damon, The Martian

-> he already has one and will for sure win the second soon, he´s great, but although the movie was great, his role doesn´t really deserve the Oscar

Leonardo DiCaprio, The Revenant

-> should and will win, otherwise, why would i tattoo that on my arm? wink. Besides, he ate the raw liver. It´s strange how actors challenge themselves in these kind of roles. Some do it for l´amour de l´art, others because they want to be recognized and belong to the elite (like Matthew McConaughey, in my opinion), but either way, you can not underestimate their achievements.

Michael Fassbender, Steve Jobs

-> great actor as well, but his interpretation in this role was ok-ish

Eddie Redmayne, The Danish Girl

-> haven´t seen the movie yet

ACTRESS IN A LEADING ROLE

Cate Blanchett, Carol

-> i haven´t seen the movie yet, but Cate is one of my favorite actresses, she should win

Brie Larson, Room

-> will win

Jennifer Lawrence, Joy

-> although i like her as a person (at least how i think she is in real life), let´s be serious, she´s not a great actress! I don´t know why everyone keeps thinking that!

Charlotte Rampling, 45 Years

-> haven´t seen it yet

Saoirse Ronan, Brooklyn

-> gonna watch the movie soon

ACTOR IN A SUPPORTING ROLE

Christian Bale, The Big Short

-> he´s one of the best actors there are, should definitely and will win, he did great!!

Tom Hardy, The Revenant

-> good actor, but i wouldn´t give him the Oscar for this role exactly

Mark Ruffalo, Spotlight

-> i haven´t seen the movie yet

Mark Rylance, Bridge of Spies

-> good acting, but not great!!

Sylvester Stallone, Creed

-> yeah, i don´t even know why he is nominated

ACTRESS IN A SUPPORTING ROLE

Jennifer Jason Leigh, The Hateful Eight

-> looks like a very weird movie, but it is Tarantino. wink

Rooney Mara, Carol

-> will win

Rachel McAdams, Spotlight ->

-> should win, such a good actress!!!

Alicia Vikander, The Danish Girl

-> this girl has a bright future!

Kate Winslet, Steve Jobs

-> one of my all time favorite actresses. I´ll never understand why she didn´t win in Titanic. But although she´s always great, i wouldn´t give her the Oscar for this role in particular. Sorry Kate ;)

BEST PICTURE

The Big Short

-> very good, based on real facts (very important in a movie for me), but not exactly my style, and so difficult to understand everything happening ;)

Bridge of Spies

-> also based on real facts, loved it

Brooklyn

-> gonna watch it soon

Mad Max: Fury Road

-> although lots of people told us not to watch it, i found it interesting. Those models were like..are you kidding me? Really?

The Martian

-> loooved it!

The Revenant

> should and will win! I´m not an expert, but this film was really hard to make

Room

-> everybody seems to love this movie, how come i haven´t seen it yet?

Spotlight

-> haven´t seen it either

If you´re curious, you can read all the nominations here. I won´t predict for the other categories, because let´s be serious, these are the most important ones. Why else do you think they give the award for the best picture at the end of the ceremony? To keep the viewers interested ;)

that´s it! tell me what do you think and are you watching the event? I will, but tomorrow. We have to go to sleep early tonight, so husband and i will watch it on Monday night, i won´t be reading any news the whole day, although i´m pretty sure there will be some spoilers :(

TIPS:

  • If you have time and are interested, you can play with your friends The official Oscars challenge, and if you are an US resident you can even win some prizes.
  • husband and i are huge Casey Neistat fans and he´s also invited to the Oscars (so jealous!!). If you want to see his vlog (the next day) about it, click here

p.s. we are the people that work really hard, not the actors, we are actually the ones who allow them earn so much money, i know..but somehow i also appreciate them, i really do, they make us see other worlds and situations we otherwise couldn´t (or maybe will, someday..)
love, i
